There are many different kinds of organisations which are FIA Members – from multi-site operators to individual local gyms, to many leading suppliers. To verify which kind of member you could be, have a look at the list below and click on the right hand buttons for a detailed description of member benefits.

• Operator: Commercial and local authority health clubs, who should already be working to the FIA Code of Practice,  if not already compliant
• Operator linked: Membership is only applicable to a site which is linked to an operator, ie: if you are are part of a group / chain. You receive a reduced membership rate
• Operator Educational: Leisure facilities owned and  operated by educational establishments
• Supplier: Supplier organisations whose target audience are companies within the Health and fitness industry. All suppliers must comply with the FIA Code of Ethics
• Educational: Educational establishments without leisure facilities and typically those offering courses related to the industry
• Individuals / Students: Consultants, Instructors, Personal Trainers, Physiotherapists etc

FIA PLUS+ is our fresh new approach to help you perform better; we are scouring the country to develop partnerships with innovative businesses who can help you achieve these goals in a simple, low effort way. Our aim is to build a broad base of FIA PLUS+ partnerships, to ensure every one of our member clubs can build a wide range of relevant services stretching far beyond the core club, to help you improve member retention and grow revenues.

Operator Member Benefits

Our Greatest Team: 900 Olympic athletes with a 60 million strong team supporting them (the UK population). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the whole country to get behind Team GB and the first time in history a host country has created a campaign built on a wellness legacy. This provides a fantastic way for operators to increase membership numbers and is free for FIA members to take part.

Code of Practice: This is an external audit which raises the level of operation throughout facilities and creates a symbol of quality that the exercising public will look for before joining a fitness club or centre. Operators receive support and advice on passing. It is £390 per audited site to take part.

Health Commitment Statement: The FIA has created an alternative to the PAR-Q Form. This is a ground-breaking change as the HCS unlike its predecessor places the onus on the client to certify themselves as able to join with an operator facility. This provides a level of protection against lawsuits and as such operators can enjoy a discount on their insurance premium (up to 30%). There is an operating cost for the HCS.

FIA Flame Conference: This is the largest industry conference of the year and provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn more about the sector and network with key industry decision makers. Flame Conference 2011 was attended by over 800 delegates. The event will involve a golf day, pre-conference reception, ball of fire and seminars. You will receive at least a 50 per cent discount as an FIA member.

Support and advice: The FIA is on hand to advise and support it’s operator members on a wide number of issues such as health and safety, funding and standards.

Supplier Member Benefits

FIA database: We provide access to our mailing list enabling suppliers to market their services more effectively. This includes the name of the key decision maker at each company together with the sector their company falls into and the full postal address. This will enable you to make contact with the key market you wish to target and generate new sales.

FIA logos: We provide the FIA’s Supplier with Integrity logo. Research shows that companies aligned to their trade representative are viewed as being more credible and trustworthy by customers. This will provide industry decision makers with ‘piece of mind’ when looking to make a purchase.

FIA buyer's guide: All FIA Supplier Members are entitled to a free insert in our supplier listings produced yearly and distributed to more than 6000 decision makers in the industry.

FIA newsletter advert space: Every two months the FIA sends a newsletter to all members. There are opportunities to place a free advert in this publication.
