Public Affairs & Policy

The FIA Public Affairs and Policy Department represents the interests of the sector to parliamentarians and policymakers at European, National and Regional Levels. Since an industry consultation in 2010 the department has focused on:

• Supporting FIA members to Become the Hub of local efforts to promote physical activity and sport in their local community, whether that is through promotion of physical activity in the workplace, through partnerships with local retailers/pharmacists, relationships with local sports clubs or linkages into the local healthcare sector
• Supporting the industry to improve the collection, collation and analysis of data and research to support industry objectives in particular around consumer insight, business performance, the use of technology, and the outcomes delivered by our services
• Establishing exercise as a recognized and routine part in the management and treatment of chronic disease and a vital component in the prevention of such conditions
• Up-skilling the “army” of professionals working across the sector to deliver a service that meets the needs of the widest possible pool of people
